SISTEM Upgraded with New Training Modules

SISTEM Training

The increasingly-popular Alchemy Training SISTEM, a powerful workforce training solution available to businesses through the Missouri Career Center, underwent an upgrade recently to add new training modules by popular demand.   Modules on Customer Service, Business Etiquette, Attitude/Motivation, and Goal-Setting are among many new highlights in the soft skill training offerings through SISTEM.

The new Basics of Customer Service module helps trainees understand the importance of good customer service through six key elements needed to improve a customer’s experience.  Learners identify specific methods to provide exceptional customer service and processes to effectively handle a customer complaint.

An entry-level Business Etiquette module covers the importance of making a good impression through appropriate professional dress standards and good hygeine for men and women in work environments.  The training helps participants understand the impact of body language when meeting new people as well.  Building on the first module, a Professional-Level Business Etiquette module addresses customary behavior when meeting new people and expected protocol for conducting meetings and making calls for work.  The module also covers appropriate behavior for dining with business associates.

Defining attitude and the benefits of a good attitude at work lead off the Positive Attitude and Motivation module.  By understanding the different ways people are motivated, trainees can identify factors to influence their ability to motivate and modify behaviors to create an atmosphere of positive change in the workplace.

Local trends in workforce immigration position Southwest Missouri businesses to benefit from a new SISTEM module on Diversity.  Trainees learn how diversity affects attitude toward people and how to respond to differences in others with a positive attitude.  Proficiency in this standard helps a company’s workforce by defining discrimination and tolerance, the laws that prohibit discrimination, and when it’s appropriate to be tolerant.

The new Goal Setting module helps students understand the benefits of setting goals and practical ways to create and prioritize a list of attainable goals.  The module includes content on action plans and timelines to measure progress toward achieving short-range and long-range goals and how to use personal reflection to help assess performance.

Understanding the negative impact of being late or absent on career and work performance is the theme of the Attendance module.  The training teaches practical methods to arrange for transportation to and from work to ensure punctuality and job attendance and to arrange for childcare in the case of illness or other family emergency to minimize the risk of absenteeism.  The module covers steps to take where being late or missing work is unavoidable.  Participants understand the negative effects of drug and alcohol on work attendance.

The increasing demands of written communication in the workplace are addressed in a new Letter Writing module.  Trainees learn the different types of business letters and when to send them.  The training covers information that should be included in the header of a letter, the signature of an email, and introductory paragraphs of business correspondance.  The module also covers basic information that should be included in a letter of inquiry, the etiquette of business response letters, and the value and protocol of thank-you letters.  The course concludes with the importance and tools to assist in proofing written communication.

The new modules join a list of dozens of other course offerings designed to engage employees in short, powerful training sessions.  A complete list of modules and a profile on the Alchemy Training SISTEM is available for download as a PDF.  For a demo and basic consultation on using SISTEM for your employees, contact Tracy Lemmons at the Missouri Career Center.  Call (417) 629-3000 or send an email to tracy.lemmons@ded.mo.gov
