MEC Seminar Teaches Preparation for Unemployment Claims

An upcoming seminar in Joplin focuses on the valuable information that businesses need to handle unemployment claims.  This important seminar covers how to prepare, what materials to make available, and what to expect in the process of an employment appeals hearing.

“Unemployment Claims - The Info You Need” is set for Wednesday, June 6th from 8:30 to Noon at the Missouri Career Center, 730 S. Wall Avenue in Joplin.  The Missouri Employer Committee has secured Alice Bartlett as the featured speaker.  Alice is a Labor and Industrial Commissioner and Employer Representative for DOLIR.  The $25.00 non-refundable registration fee includes a continental breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 and entrance to the workshop.  A highly-anticipated feature of the seminar is a mock appeals hearing.

The Joplin Area Missouri Employer Committee in conjunction with the Missouri Career Center in Joplin, the Missouri Division of Workforce Development, and the Southwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board are all co-sponsors of the event.  To RSVP, contact John McClean by email or by phone at 417-629-3000.  Persons needing special accomodations should also contact John directly.
