On the surface, it appears that staffing agencies and the Career Center are in the same business. However, each entity is very unique and plays a different role for businesses and the workforce.

Staffing agencies are typically commercial entities that make a profit for the services they deliver. The Missouri Career Center is organized of not-for-profit organizations and quasi-governmental agencies that are publicly funded through the U.S. Department of Labor and the Missouri Division of Workforce Development. Both entities desire business customer satisfaction through placement of a qualified and effective workforce to the business.

The primary difference between staffing agencies and the Career Center is that the staffing agencies typically specialize in leasing employees to the business customers of the agency. The Missouri Career Center handles direct placement of job seekers as employees of the business.
