SISTEM Training Solutions
In Partnership with Alchemy Training Systems, the Missouri Career Centers in Joplin and Monett are pleased to introduce SISTEM, a dynamic training solution that saves time and produces results
What is SISTEM?
Southwest Missouri boasts the first one-stop career center in the state that is rolling out SISTEM, the Standard Industry Skills and Education Media product. SISTEM incorporates competency-based applications into an interactive training format that provides a rich learning experience for the student.
How does SISTEM work?
Rather than the flat graphics and dull animations associated with most computer-based training or e-learning products, SISTEM presents an on-screen narrator introducting and presenting the training competencies in each lesson. We use an innovative interactivity system that incorporates simple remote control devices with color-coded buttons; each issued to a specific student for whom all interactions are automatically tracked by an integrated training management system. The on-screen trainer asks participants questions and tests retention throughout each 10-15 minute training module, assuring active, documented participation from all learners. In addition, SISTEM allows many students to be trained at one time, directly analogous to an instructor-led class with even stronger results.
Why is SISTEM a superior training solution?
A prime example of SISTEM’s effectiveness comes from a third-party evaluation by the Food Training Institute. The institute’s Level Three Training Evaluation during January 2005 focused on how newly acquired skills, knowledge, or attitude are being used in the everyday environment of the trainee. Many training professionals feel that this type of evaluation represents the truest assessment of a program’s effectiveness. The performance of over 1,200 workers participating in more than 30,000 training hours was assessed and demonstrated compelling results.

What specific training solutions will SISTEM cover?
SISTEM covers soft-skill training needs, the skills in highest demand according to local surveys. Other training areas include mandated compliance issues, industry safety, food processing, vegetable packaging, food defense, and basic supervision. When can I put SISTEM to work for my company?
The Joplin and Monett Career Centers are now equipped with SISTEM. The training can also be brought onsite for company groups. SISTEM is being funded by a competitive grant secured by the Southwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board that will cover the initial development and usage costs for SISTEM.
